The test match against Olympiacos Piraeus was the first game in which Andreas Wolf and Sokratis Papastathopoulos played together on the defence. The centre back duo stood solidly and had a good performance. "For the short period of time they harmonised very well today. Sokratis went into his challenges consequently and that's what we want to see from him. Andi also played well and stood strong," said head coach Thomas Schaaf after the game.
Andreas Wolf (here in the game against Midtjylland) showed once again Tuesday night against Olympiacos Piraeus that he is a robust centre back who doesn't shy away from challenges.
Both players were also satisfied with the Green-Whites' showing. "We played very energetically and showed a lot of positive things," said Wolf. "Olympiacos is a top team in Greece. They have a month to go before the start of the season but they made life tough for us," said Papastathopoulos. "We have a very good team and are ready for the cup match this weekend and the Bundesliga start in two weeks."
