Twelve months fly by like nothing - highs and lows, celebrations and disappointments, departures and new faces. The year 2012 was one of major change which was signified not only by personnel changes. It's not easy to keep track of everything. So WERDER.DE put together it's Year in Review with some of the most extraordinary Green-Whites moments of the year. Today the third part: Today in part four: the five nicest goals.
Former Werder striker Markus Rosenberg stepped up at the end of the 2011-12 season, scoring nearly half of his 10 goals in the final five matches. Among them was the goal to make it 1-0 against Möchengladbach. Dante failed to pay attention on a Claudio Pizarro through ball, allowing "Rosi" to race towards Gladbach keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and loop a shot over his head from 17 yards for the nicest Werder goal of the second half of the season!
Borussia Mönchengladbach's keeper ter Stegen experienced some déjà-vu on the eighth game day of this season in Bremen. After a wonderful pass from Aaron Hunt, Marko Arnautovic had space alone in front of ter Stegen and - just like Rosenberg six months earlier - also looped a shot over the keeper from nearly the same position. Werder won 3-0 in the end.
Five minutes before the end of a hard-fought battle, Aaron Hunt gave Werder the victory with a fantastic free kick goal into the upper corner for the game-winner to make it 2-1. Hunt had also scored the opening goal for the Green-Whites.
All four of Kevin De Bruyne's goals this season have been quite a sight. On the goal to make it 1-0 against VfB Stuttgart, everything just worked perfectly from the set-up to the execution. After a series of one-time passes with the Belgian, Eljero Elia and Nils Petersen, the ball landed in the box at De Bruyne, who curled a one-timer past Stuttgart keeper Sven Ulreich inside the near corner. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Marko Arnautovic had an amazing day against 1899 Hoffenheim, scoring three goals in Werder's 4-1 victory. "Arni" crowned his masterful performance with an absolutely dream goal. The 23-year-old raced around the Hoffenheim backline before playing a one-two with Joseph Akpala in the box and chipping it into the far upper left corner.
