Another 12 months have passed for the Green-Whites. Highs and lows, victories and defeats - it was an eventful 2014 year along the Weser. In an extensive yearly review, WERDER.DE looks back at the most important events of the last 365 days. In the fourth part: October to December.
24 October: Last match under Robin Dutt: SV Werder Bremen lose 1-0 against Cologne at Weser Stadium on the ninth match day. It's the last match for Dutt as Green-Whites coach. He was relieved of his duties one day later along with assistant coach Damir Buric and goalkeeper coach Marco Langner.
25 October: Viktor Skripnik is new head coach! The former U23 coach takes over the professional team along with Florian Kohfeldt, Torsten Frings and Christian Vander. "We are convinced that he has everything needed to give the team back the confidence and means needed to win matches and continue to develop," said manager Thomas Eichin.
Also on this day, Marco Bode takes over the chairmanship of the supervisory board, becoming the successor to Willi Lemke.
28 October: Only days after the promotion of Viktor Skripnik to head coach, Werder beat Chemnitzer FC 2-0 in the second round of the German Cup and reached the Round of 16.
1 November: Bundesliga premiere a success! Viktor Skripnik and his team also win their premiere in the Bundesliga. The Green-Whites win 2-1 in Mainz and pick up their first Bundesliga victory of the 2014-15 season. The outstanding player of the day was Franco Di Santo with two goals. A week later comes the third win in three matches under Skripnik as Werder beat VfB Stuttgart at home.
23 November: Defeat in North Derby: SV Werder must accept a 2-0 loss at SV Hamburg in the North Derby.
29 November: Werder beat SC Paderborn 4-0 at home with three youngsters - Davie Selke, Levent Aycicek and Janek Sternberg - in the starting line-up.
7 December: The big reunion: The away match in Frankfurt sees the reunion with Thomas Schaaf. But the happy moments are quickly forgotten as Werder lose 5-2.
20 December: Werder win the final home match of the year by beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1. Davie Selke and Fin Bartels score the goals.
