Werder Bremen presented a weak and disappointing performance in their 5-0 loss at Borussia Mönchengladbach and played well under their normal form. WERDER.DE gathered the reaction after the match:
Head coach Thomas Schaaf: "Everything that distinguished us in the last couple weeks - togetherness, support of the others - was not implemented at all today. And we paid for it with this result. We are disappointed and frustrated."
Klaus Allofs: "That was a lesson in how you do things when you're up top and want to stay there. But when you go into a game like this and don't do anything then you cannot be happy about it. If we give our all then we can have some good games. But that was missing today."
Clemens Fritz: "That was the worst game of the season. It's a huge disappointment. Our defensive performance was a catastrophe. That doesn't just go for the defenders but for everyone in the team. We wanted to make space tight and have strong challenges. But we didn't implement our coach's game plan at all. We want to be up top, but you cannot present yourself in this manner and offer this kind of performance. Then you can't get anything. But I would rather get our butts whipped once then lose three games in a row."
Tim Wiese: "I have no explanation for our performance. That was our worst match of the season. We have to sleep on this one and then calmly work it out. In the last few weeks we have always bounced back from deficits. Today it went bad. But we have to forget about this game and see to it that we win next week against Stuttgart. Then the world will look a lot different."
