Werder Bremen's players' faces said it all after the 1-0 defeat at Hertha Berlin. Pizarro, Wiese and Co. were outraged and deeply disappointed going through the mixed zone into the changing room. They were speechless. They were aggravated after the poor performance at Berlin's Olympic Stadium. "We are all totally disappointed. That was a catastrophic match," said manager Klaus Allofs full of frustration. "I don't want to talk bad about Herthat but our team is totally insecure and does not have the class at the moment - if we want to achieve our goals we have to take three points from here."
And Allofs gave the reasons for the poor showing straight away. "We are not able to pressure enough and assert ourselves in the decisive situations. When we need the last pass or the chance comes then we are not resolute enough," said Allofs. Tom Trybull agreed with Werder's manager. "We had big intentions before the game and came here to win. Unfortunately our plan fell apart. Maybe we needed to adapt better to the pitch conditions in a situation here or there," said Trybull.
Head coach Thomas Schaaf couldn't help but be reminded of last week. "The match went just like last week. We did so much work and created our chances but have not been able recently to use those opportunities. We struggled to find the holes and use space. We have to work on being more effective and decisive because you just cannot win without a goal," said the coach. Allofs was also aggravated that the team is scoreless in the last two matches. "We don't have anybody who can score goals at the moment. Not even Claudio is scoring right now. But it would be good if there were players who could support it," added the manager.
