It was an unnecessary and very aggravating loss for Werder in the "Small North Derby" at Hannover as the Green-Whites fell 3-2. The defeat mainly happened because Werder just made too many mistakes Sunday afternoon.

"Today we were unable to do the things that make us strong. We lost too many balls too easily and lost too many challenges, bringing ourselves in a bad position," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. "We were not free in our minds for the game. The loss should make us aggravated, but I hope that we learn from it."

"In the past couple weeks we did a lot right. Today we did a lot wrong. Especially in the first half we made too many mistakes," said Clemens Fritz. Aaron Hunt added: "We started horribly, and that cannot happen. We experienced last week how it is to chase after a deficit. It was even worse against Hannover because we hadn't even touched the ball yet by the time of the penalty. We have to correct as soon as possible the fact that we seem to sleep through the beginning of games."

"We just made too many mistakes and were simply not in the game. After conceding the early goal we took a big risk and they countered us to make it 2-0. After that we showed a strong morale. If we make it 2-2 then the game changes balance and we could have profited from it. We are long not a team that plays perfectly. We have to play more clever in many areas," added manager Klaus Allofs.
