Head coach Robin Dutt seemed less disappointed than many had expected. Of course he probably gulped briefly at the final whistle, having hoped to gain three points. Of course he would have liked to have bottled up the performance of the first 35 minutes. But in his assessment of the 3-3 draw against Nuremberg, it was clear that his team had taken a step up in their development on Sunday.
"I really see it very differentiated. I gladly would have won but I also have to see the big picture and must say that the trend is correct! I cannot expect that everything goes perfectly already on the seventh game day. But after today's match, I am certain that we will continue to improve with a lot of work," said Dutt.
Zlatko Junuzovic: "Of course I am disappointed. We lost two points here because the overall performance was good. We were missing a bit of cleverness and experience, but the trend is clearly improving. You as a player can sense that on the pitch as well. And I have the feeling that the spectators sense that as well. They really supported us superbly today."
Clemens Fritz: "If we had kept a clean sheet we would have won. But it's very hard to win even at home after conceding three goals. That cannot happen. We gave up a stupid goal just before the break and then one right afterwards. Then we were back in the match and it was an even game."
Eljero Elia: "It's really too bad for the team and the fans. We played great up to the second goal and then didn't play football anymore. We started poorly in the second half. In the end, one point is not enough. When you don't win at home, it feels like a loss."
