Three goals conceded including an own goal, a missed penalty and on top of that a red card: Many of the 40,060 spectators at Bremen's Weser Stadium will ask themselves if SV Werder's game actually took place a day earlier on Friday the 13th. The protagonists answered that question in the mixed zone after the 3-0 defeat. The majority opinion was that what the Green-Whites delivered had nothing to do with a lack of luck.

"I see the red card and missed penalty as more of a side story. We have to talk much more about how to go into a game like this. We cannot accept this. I am aggravated about my team's performance in the first 20 minutes. We did not perform today how we had to perform," said head coach Robin Dutt unsatisfied about the performance of his team on the fifth match day.

WERDER.DE collected further reaction of those involved in the catacombs of Weser Stadium.

Thomas Eichin: "We were missing the courage, especially in the first 20 minutes, which were just bad. We must perform entirely differently at home, play much quicker and more courageously. Basically we need more scenes close to the opponents' area. You cannot start that way. We seemed more relieved after the red card and created three big goal chances that we hadn't had in the previous couple matches. In the end we have to say: Today was a day to forget."

Clemens Fritz: "You cannot perform the way we played in the first 20 minutes. We were dispirited in our play up front and brought ourselves into difficulties with individual mistakes."

Aaron Hunt: "The first 20 minutes were poor. After that it was just difficult with the red card. Still we had enough set play chances, also with my penalty, to get back into the game. In order to have moved something today, we had to put in one of those chances. If we do that, then something certainly could have been possible. But it was just kind of a black day for us."

Cedrick Makiadi: "I can understand the fans' whistling. They paid a lot of money to see a reasonable football match that we did not provide against Frankfurt. We had hoped before the match to do quite a bit after training well during the week. But we didn't see much of that in the match. We never found our way into the match. We have to change that as quickly as possible. If we want to see something positively, then the fact that we didn't fall apart after the red card."
