This was a bitter afternoon for SV Werder. The Green-Whites suffered a 6-1 defeat to the runaway Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, experiencing first hand over 90 minutes at Allianz Arena the current dominance of Bayern. "Of course we cannot be satisfied with such a game, that's entirely clear. We know that we played against a team with loads of confidence. We didn't have that confidence today. Besides, we also made things more difficult for us with the red card," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf.

WERDER.DE compiled more reaction:

Nils Petersen: "We are unbelievably aggravated. The first 20 minutes were okay. We stood well in the back and made things tight and didn't allow too many chances. We even poked them ourselves here and there. But we didn't give Bayern enough to do, we didn't have enough push towards the goal. In that regard, we didn't do what we had planned. And that played to Bayern's advantage."

Sebastian Prödl: "The 6-1 is a very bitter defeat. The quick lead and the red card played right into Bayern's hands. After that, they were even better with the ball and we didn't have anything to challenge them. The mood in the changing room is very dejected."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "The 6-1 defeat is a tough pill to swallow. Bayern are playing so well at the moment and the quick 2-0 deficit was of course very bitter. And then we weren't coordinated well a man down after the break. Whenever we conceded a goal today, we gave up another one right away. It was six goals in three stages. Especially the final two goals cannot happen. We need to stop that."

Thomas Eichin: "We had a plan before the match. At the beginning we did a very good job. The first 20 minutes were decisive for me today. We stood well and did a good job. But we need to push forward with more courage at that stage. And then after the two goals and the red card it was very difficult, as expected."
