Sometimes the TARGOBANK Man of the Match from the Werder ranks is a tragic hero. And Naldo was given the award from the main sponsor after the defeat against Bayern. The Brazilian scored two goals - the 1-0 for Werder and the 1-1 as an own goal for Bayern. "I am really sorry for the team. But if you look at the video you can see that there were two players around me - one player was free in front of me and another behind me. I had to do something. Looking at everything, I think I had a good match," said Naldo.
WERDER.DE collected reaction after the game:
Florian Trinks:
"The disappointment is really big. Everyone is really frustrated. Realistically, we don't have any more chance for Europe. But we want to at least get six points from the last two games to gracefully finish out the season."
Klaus Allofs:
"We were lucky that we were still close to the Europa League after this second half. But we haven't used our chances. You have to pick up points for the Europa League and we don't do that too often. But if it's still possible mathematically, we should try to get three points in Wolfsburg and against Schalke. Then we can look at the table and see if it was enough."
Aaron Hunt:
"Now we have to look at Hannover. If they lose on Sunday, it's still possible that we play next season in the Europa League. It would be nice to play internationally again. If you always only have one match per week, it gets a little boring. Besides, it's important for the club and for every player to showcase yourself internationally."
Thomas Schaaf:
"The performance today was definitely better than in recent weeks. We pushed forward better when we possessed the ball. We held off some Bayern chances and went ahead but then missed the chance to push further ahead. So it's sad that we didn't get anything out of the game. I am happy with the way we played but not with the result. A second goal would have given us more security."
