Four goals for Werder! That last happened more than 25 months ago along the Weser in the match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. With the enormously important and deserved 4-0 victory over Paderborn, the Green-Whites jumped to 14th place - at least for the moment. The day was a total success for the fans at the sold-out Weser Stadium. Here is the reaction to the match.
Viktor Skripnik: "I am very happy about the victory. We were in last place before the game. That was not easy. But today we kept a clean sheet and scored four goals, which we in part created in the run of play. That makes me especially happy. These kinds of victories give you confidence. That is enormously important. The result showed that we can play football. But now we have to stay grounded and work on our mistakes."
Levent Aycicek: "We played a good match and that showed exactly what we discussed in the changing room. We were incisive and finally used our chances - even though we could have scored a lot more goals."
Thomas Eichin: "We certainly could have prevented some of the set pieces. We have to do a better job with that. During half-time, Viktor made it clear to the team that we have to go after the second and third goals. That was the decisive message to the team. The guys did a good job with that in the second half."
