A week before the start of the second half of the Bundeslia, Viktor Skripnik's team showed they are in good condition in picking up a 3-2 victory in a warm-up in Hannover. The players and coaching staff were accordingly satisfied after the match, which was played behind closed doors. "We showed some good play," said captain Clemens Fritz. The only aggravating thing according to Skripnik - with a wink - was that "we couldn't have the three points for the league."
WERDER.DE collected the reaction after the match:
Clemens Fritz: "The willingness to run and the will were there. We implemented well the things that we worked on in training. We showed some good play and adjusted ourselves better than Hannover over the course of the match. Of course we have to stop the mistakes on their goals, but we all have to step up, not just the defenders."
Zlatko Junuzovic: "That was a very good test. We are looking forward to the home match against Hertha and that it finally starts up again."
Viktor Skripnik: "I am satisfied with the result that we won, but not with everything that I saw. It was a good match by both teams in the difficult conditions. I am happy that we are making progress. Of course, losses or bad days are also part of the preparations, but we have used the last couple of weeks. That makes me optimistic. The guys understand what we want. Now we want to display these ideas in the second half."
