The dress rehearsal was a success! On the "Day of the Fans 2013", Werder Bremen won their test match against Premier League club FC Fulham 1-0 (0-0) at Weser Stadium and head into the final week of training before the start of the competitive season with a tailwind.
Here is a sampling of the reaction about the match:
Robin Dutt: "We are as seasoned as the other teams. For the past two matches we worked orientated towards results. That means tailoring the training burden according to that. We barely conceded two chances, had a lot of ball possession, played good pressing defence and played passes deep into the opponents' territory. It's a minor success, nothing more. It would be nice if we continue to defend like we did today. But I am very certain that nobody is going to get a big head after this match."
Thomas Eichin: "Fulham certainly could not play the tempo that they wanted to. We are not overvaluing the match. We stood well in our order, we had a lot of chances. We wanted to play results orientated, not give up a goal, and that worked. We can be satisfied today, but we have to analyse things tomorrow and work on improvements."
Clemens Fritz: "That was a nice finish to a great day. We played a very intensive match in high temperatures. We had the power for that. We should expect that in the cup match in Saarbrücken as well. We put the opponent under pressure right away and created chances out of that and also scored the goal."
Nils Petersen: "The dress rehearsal was successful. It's nice that we were able to finish the preparations with a success. That helps us be able to work calmly in the next week."
