SV Werder are left dealing with a very painful 6-0 defeat at Bayern Munich in a match where the Green-Whites couldn't find the necessary means against the current league leaders. "Directly after the match, it's difficult to find the right words. This result is of our own doing. We did a lot of things wrong. The most important thing is that we find the right words to mercilessly analyse the match," said captain Clemens Fritz.
WERDER.DE listened in after the match and collected the reaction from the disappointed Werder team.
Robin Dutt: "We had a poor match from the beginning and never had a chance. The fact is that didn't come close to doing what we wanted to do."
Thomas Eichin: "Today we played like our standing in the table. The respect was too high and you cannot play that way in Munich. That was a bad performance. You have to be more courageous in Munich, go into the challenges and even pick up a yellow card."
Clemens Fritz: "We will not go walking around with our heads down the next couple of days. Otherwise we won't win anything against Cologne either."
Raphael Wolf: "That was a bitter blow for us. There's nothing to gloss over. That was not a good feeling. Things didn't work today which usually work in youth football. The fact is we work well in training and the last couple of weeks have been good work too. But we cannot call that up on the pitch. We have to get better quickly."
Nils Petersen: "This result hurts a lot. Bayern play their game tremendously well. You continually are running after the ball and that takes away double your energy. In principle, we don't have any time to think about the loss. The match against Cologne is tremendously important. We have to concentrate ourselves as quickly as possible."
Fin Bartels: "Of course we had imagined today completely different. After going down 2-0, we really played a bad match. We were bad as a team altogether."
