The fantastic 4-0 victory against Paderborn was followed by a bitter 5-2 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt. Despite falling behind, Werder fought back in Frankfurt and equalised the match before the half but Frankfurt's 2-1 goal shortly after the re-start turned the contest in Eintracht's favour for good. "That was decisive moment," said captain and birthday boy Clemens Fritz. SVW got back into the game but then the game was decided for good when Felix Kroos hit the upright and Frankfurt scored at the other end to make it 3-1. "After that, we couldn't do anything else," said Zlatko Junuzovic. "The first half was orderly but we could have done more."

WERDER.DE was in the mixed zone afterwards and compiled the most important statements about the match.

Clemens Fritz: "Their goals may have been unlucky but Frankfurt did a good job and was physically present. We did not defend well, we didn't go into the tackles and we gave up the ball too easily up front. We have to accept blame."

Fin Bartels: "We imagined things differently today. We allowed them too much room and conceded easy goals. Until 1-1, it was okay. The second goal in my opinion was a clear foul. After that we pushed forward with all we had and of course Frankfurt had more space."

Viktor Skripnik: "We deservedly lost today on the road against a very strong team. We couldn't find the means to make the game simple, instead playing too many long balls. We were too naive up front. The 2-1 goal was certainly the deciding moment. We wanted to push the play after that but were then open in the back. The last goals were just too easy."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "I would guess that no team will really get out of the cellar before the winter break. Five or six teams will hang around and in the end the home matches will decide the outcome. That's what we are concentrating on, especially now against Hanover."

Rouven Schröder: "The league is so close. We have to clear our heads about the table. We have to keep our heads up, continue to work well and win the next match."
