Following the game last week against Gladbach, the Green-Whites heart was pleased with the morale shown in the 0-0 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt, the great fighting spirit as well as the team sticking together. The players, fans and club leaders shouldn't just be happy about the one point but much more about the united team performance and the strong dedication. Symbolic of those traits was the scene after the match when Sebastian Prödl, Raphael Wolf and Co. headed over to the fans, who responded with a banner reading: "Everything for the derby win!"
"That was a very intensive match. The point is a win, but it was also very hard fought after the early red card. We can be satisfied," said Prödl after the match at Commerzbank Arena. Head coach Robin Dutt was happy about his team keeping a clean sheet. "We were able to do that for the seventh time this season. Despite the many goals conceded, this is also a quality of the team," said the coach.
WERDER.DE collected more reaction to the match.
Cedrick Makiadi: "It was a difficult match. We didn't have much possession. We started with 11 players and then played almost better with 10. Those are the traits that you must develop when you're lower on the table. We started with that last week against Gladbach and never gave up. Today we did that just the same after the red card. It was more or less a successful performance for us."
Raphael Wolf: "We played very well today as a collective, especially a man down. The point today feels like a victory."
Felix Kroos: "It's always difficult to observe a match from the outside and not be able take part, especially after a red card. But I can handle the situation and have to tip my hat. The team really did a great job."
