Morale, fighting spirit and a draw - in the end the 1-1 draw at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach felt like a victory. SV Werder played like a different team in the second half in collecting a point against fifth-placed Gladbach. But the point wasn't the only thing that the team took from the match but also a good bit of confidence looking forward to the coming challenges. And head coach Robin Dutt was accordingly pleased after the match. "That was a morale victory. In the table, we only won one point but the equaliser was very important for the morale of the team," said Dutt.
Thomas Eichin saw the point won in a similar manner. "We are really relieved. We really fought hard and played with courage. It's nice that we were rewarded in the end," said the manager.
WERDER.DE collected more reaction after the match:
Sebastian Prödl: "We didn't play that poorly in the first half. Gladbach just did a good job. In the second half we were better because we took more risks. We were more courageous and were rewarded in the end."
Raphael Wolf: "I think we got into the game more in the second half and worked to get the point and in the end deserved it."
Nils Petersen: "We gave all we could running and fighting-wise. We were especially good in the second half. We wanted to really stay alert and look forward from the beginning. You could see that we then had chances and we can get our fans into it when we give everything we have.
Philipp Bargfrede: "This is a good feeling today. We had troubles getting into the game after their silly goal. But we did a good job in the second half. We applied pressure, created chances and the fans were really there. That pushed us."
Ludovic Obraniak: "We had problems getting into the match at the beginning, but we showed in the second half that we really enjoy playing and that we are a team that can create a lot of chances. You could also see that we can hold our own against a team playing among the top five."
