SV Werder will have to make do without their defensive boss Sebastian Prödl for the next two to three weeks. The Austrian suffered a muscle strain to his left thigh. Head coach Robin Dutt made the announcment Tuesday afternoon. "It's a shame that Basti won't be available to us. He was in a good form. I hope it sticks to the two to three weeks," said Dutt about Prödl, who hasn't taken part in team training since last Thursday.

For his teammates, the first session of the week started at 10 a.m. In addition to the Austrian centre back and Davie Selke, who sat out for personal reasons, two other Werder players had to leave the sesson early.

But both Assani Lukimya, who banged knees with a teammate, and Franco Di Santo, who also had to leave the pitch with knee problems, were taken out for precautionary reasons. "The knee is just a very painful spot. It's nothing serious just a bruise," said Lukimya after the training.
