Sebastian Prödl knew already in the 50th minute that something was not in order. His thigh was tweaked and he had to be subbed out of the match at VfL Wolfsburg. Shortly thereafter team doctor Götz Dimanski diagnosed Prödl with a muscle injury on the rear side of the right thigh. Prödl will likely miss about two weeks.
"I cannot really say any more exactly how it happened. An opposing player was not involved though. Of course it's a bad situation for me to be out in the fall when so many games are played. I hope that I can get back to the pitch as quickly as possible," said the centre back Sunday afternoon.
Prödl will definitely be out of Werder's next home match against Hannover, a fact that Bremen head coach Robin Dutt had to accept already after the end of the Wolfsburg match.
While the Austrian international could not take part in the Sunday morning training, Franco Di Santo and Aleksandar Stevanovic went through individual running drills. It's unclear if the two players can return to team training at the beginning of next week.
