Sebastian Prödl will miss the next six to eight weeks for SV Werder. The centre back suffered a partially torn ligament in his right knee in the away match in Frankfurt in Sunday. This was the diagnosis of the examination Monday afternoon. That means the first half of the season is over for the Austrian.

Prödl got his knee caught in a tackle during the 5-2 loss against Eintracht Frankfurt and needed to be subbed out. Now the 27-year-old defensive boss will likely miss two months and not be available to the team for the remaining three matches before the end of the year. "It's naturally bitter that Basti will miss so long. He will be out but we also have other players who can fill this hole and now can prove that - even though they haven't gotten much game practice," said Werder coach Viktor Skripnik.

Wolf with bruised pelvis

Things were more positive meanwhile for Raphael Wolf. The Green-Whites keeper also needed to be subbed out in Frankfurt after colliding with Frankfurt's Haris Seferovic. An ultrasound check-up with Werder team doctor Philipp Heidmann showed the 26-year-old Wolf had suffered a bruised pelvis.

It remains unclear if Wolf can play in the home match on Saturday 13 December 2014 at 3:30 p.m. against Hanover. But that is the keeper's goal. "We hope that he can play again on Saturday but we have to wait and see," said Skripnik.
