"Controlled aggressiveness? Yes! Violence? No! - That was the clear motto of SV Werder club leaders on Thursday. Two days ahead of the 100th North Derby, one could clearly tell at the official press conference that head coach Robin Dutt and manager Thomas Eichin were looking forward to the match against Hamburg. Despite the excitement, Dutt and Eichin said it was important to appeal for a fair showdown.
"Both clubs are doing a lot that the match takes place in a friendly atmosphere. We are also aware that the match can have a loser. But that doesn't mean that the team will change their game accordingly," said Eichin at the press conference, calling for a fair handling of both teams after the match.
In order to keep his players from not getting too over-excited about the match, Dutt came up with a solution. "We need to make sure, like Thomas Eichin said after the match against Frankfurt, that we have a controlled aggressiveness going into the match," said the coach.
There are still two more days before kick-off at Bremen's Weser Stadium. But Eichin can hardly wait. "I wish it was Saturday already, 3:30 p.m. and the referee was blowing the whistle," said Eichin.
