As part of the 35-year anniversary of the city partnership between Bremen and Gdansk, a group of Polish youth spent a week in the Hanseatic city. Last Friday they were at Weser Stadium to meet Sebastian Boenisch. The Werder defender welcomed 15 youngsters and their German exchange partners at the WUSEUM. The Poland native had a cozy chat with his compatriots, answering the youngsters' questions about how he got into football; why he decided to play for the Polish national team; and if he has a girlfriend.
The 24-year-old Werder ace enjoyed the German-Polish exchange and patiently answered all of their questions. Boenisch also granted the visitors autographs. And as a thank you, the school children gave Boenisch a scarf from Gdansk. In return each of the youngsters received as a memoir of their visit to Weser Stadium a yearbook and a Werder Bremen fan scarf. The fans from Gdansk were able to use them as they were guests for the home match against Wolfsburg.
The youngsters from Poland finished their look behind the Green-White Bundesliga club with a stadium tour on Monday.
