Claudio Pizarro is the most successful foreign-born scorer in Bundesliga history with 135 goals and is an absolute leader with Werder Bremen! That's why many fans believe the Green-Whites' poor 14th place standing after the first half was due to the Peruvian being unavailable injured for most of the games. But the 32-year-old striker wants to change Bremen's spot on the table as well as his regularity of being on the pitch. "We are aware that we are not in a good spot right now and know that we have to work hard to make up quite a bit," said Pizarro. And the South American hopes to play a major role in the second half charge. "I have had enough time to recover and get healthy. That's why I don't have any more problems and am trying everything I can here in training camp to get really fit for the second half and be able to support the team," said Pizarro.
There is not a lot of time left for preparations for the start of the second half against Hoffenheim. "But if we continue to work like we have then it will be very good for us," said Pizarro. "We know we have to be in good form for the start of the second half. We don't have any time to lose and want to gain as many points as possible right from the beginning. And I believe that we will do it," said Pizaroo confidently.
One player who will join Pizarro on the hunt for goals is new acquisition Denni Avdic. "Of course it is difficult to say something about him after just two days. He is a true central striker, is big, has power and I believe he can score goals," said Pizarro about his new teammate, who can undoubtedly profit from the Peruvian. One player who doesn't need any help is Marko Arnautovic. "He knows how it works," said "Piza". "We all know that he is a good footballer. He just has to show his quality - that is important to the team." Pizarro also had a message to young and old about what must happen to be successful in the second half. "We have to think positively, try to improve everything and then we will see if it's in fact enough for an international spot in the end. That is the goal," said Pizarro. "And I think it's realistic."
