Claudio Pizarro and the rest of his Werder teammates have long had their thoughts concentrated on Bremen's next league match against Mainz. And since today the Peruvian striker can also physically look forward to the away match on Saturday, 5 February 2011. Pizarro has overcome his blocked neck muscles and was able to return to team training on Thursday after two days away from the pitch.
"Marko Arnautovic has also returned to training since the beginning of the week. Other than the long-term injured players, nearly all players who were out short term are available again," said head coach Thomas Schaaf at the mid-day press conference. The word "nearly" was directed towards Tim Borowski. "Boro is still out. He was in bed four days with a fever and had to have trained today to make an appearance on the weekend. It won't work out that fast," said Schaaf about the midfielder who will not be in the roster against the fourth-ranked team.
Daniel Jensen, who completed one running session on the pitch this week, will also not be available on the weekend. "He can only take part in rehab training and is still receiving treatment. We can't consider anything more at the moment," added Schaaf.
