In the Bundesliga they are fighting for the top of the table but Werder's striker Claudio Pizarro, Hamburg's Paolo Guerrero and Jefferson Farfan of Schalke were side by side with the Peruvian national team, shooting for their big dream of the 2014 Worlds Cup in Brazil.
The trio came up with the perfect start to their South American World Cup qualification campaign by beating Paraguay 2-0 in Lima Friday night to Saturday morning. Guerrero scored both goals (46th/73rd) for the Peruvians, who were led onto the pitch by Pizarro. The former Werder player Nelson Valdez sat on the bench for Paraguay.
"That was a very important victory for us to reach our goal of being in Brazil," said Pizarro. Peru's next match will be a hard challenge as Pizarro and company face Chile Tuesday night to Wednesday 12:45 a.m. (Bremen time).
