One day after the Wintercup, SV Werder players started up training again along the Weser Monday afternoon 16 January 2012 looking forward to the beginning of the second half of the season. But head coach Thomas Schaaf had to do with his Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro.

"Claudio has some muscle tightness. It will take one or two days, so he is not an option for Rostock," said the Werder coach about the 33-year-old's chances of playing the test match tomorrow against Hansa Rostock (kickoff at 6 p.m.). Schaaf removed Pizarro from the game against Dortmund as a precautionary measure after 10 minutes.

Mikael Silvestre meanwhile had no problems going into challenges Monday afternoon after recovering from his Achilles tendon problem, which kept him out of the last couple days of training. Schaaf can rely on Silvestre for more than just the session on Monday. "Mikael will return to the roster for the test match," said the 50-year-old coach, meaning Silvestre will be on board with the rest of the team for the trip to Rostock.

Philipp Bargfrede and Naldo are still working on a return to team training. Werder's No. 44 completed an individual session with fitness coach Yann-Benjamin Kugel on Monday while Bremen's Brazilian centre back worked in the fitness area of Weser Stadium. "Naldo was able to increase his training burden. But I cannot say when he will return to the pitch," said Schaaf.
