Before the Green-Whites even started their training session Wednesday 2 November 2011 under the guidance of head coach Thomas Schaaf, Claudio Pizarro and Sebastian Boenisch worked out on the "Platz 10" grounds. While Boenisch continued his rehab training, "Piza" tested his foot bruise in a running session. "It still is the same," said Werder's Peruvian after the session, referring to his statement from a day earlier that he would like to train again with the team on Thursday.
Boenisch will have to wait a while longer for team training. "I can work again with the ball. Shooting, however, is not yet on the program. It's difficult to give a prognosis. Even though I think about the injury now and again, I have faith in my knee," said Boenisch after the individual session.
Sebastian Prödl and Marko Arnautovic both had a special reason to be happy. The Austrians, who last week were visited by new national team coach Marcel Koller, were notified after training that they were nominated for the national team match against Ukraine (15 November 2011 in Lviv). "After the coach recently talked with me, I figured it would come. He wants to achieve something with us and has full faith in us. But first I want to concentrate on my task at hand with Werder," said Arnautovic looking ahead to the Bundesliga match on Saturday at Weser Stadium against Cologne.
