Head coach Thomas Schaaf would have liked to have seen the goal stand. "That was really too bad. I would have been happy for him. And I think it was a correct goal. Manuel Neuer left his area and everyone had fair challenges. I just hope Petri doesn't relax, that he keeps pushing on. Then maybe one will count," said Schaaf. Manager Klaus Allofs looked at it a bit humorous. "I would have allowed the goal. But I didn't referee the game and cannot referee any games with Werder playing," joked Allofs. "It is certainly a situation which some referees would have viewed as Mr. Kircher and others differently. We're not going to get really excited about it."
Hopefully things go just as well in the Finn's final four Werder matches. Pasanen will definitely be a bit emotional going into those games. "Of course I know that I had seven nice years here. Yeah, I'm a little sad," admitted Pasanen. The feeling is reciprocal. "It is too bad that he's leaving us. He always handled himself correctly and gave his all for Werder. But at some point you just have to let go. You could see that today with Angelos Charisteas. When you see each other again, you think back on the successful times," said Allofs. "I like Petri as a guy as well. I have worked with him a long time and therefore have a lot of memories with him," said Schaaf about Pasanen, who was named TARGOBANK - Man of the Match.
