But the news of the coming departure of the dependable Finn did not prove to be a big surprise among his teammates. The comments from his colleagues leaving training however showed how much they respect the veteran. "When you are with a club for as long as Petri then it's naturally too bad. He is so beloved within the team because he always remains calm and was always there when he was needed. He is the kind of guy who never complains if he has to play on the left side or right side or in the middle. He just has a good character. With his quality, he will certainly find a good new club," said captain Torsten Frings. "It is really too bad that Petri will be leaving the club, especially since so many in the team appreciate him. He is someone who does not push to the forefront, is more low-key guy, a totally positive character who gives his all for the team. If he is looking for a new challenge, then I can understand that," said Aaron Hunt, who like Pasanen has been part of the professional side since summer 2004.
Petri has a good feeling about the decisive coming weeks. "I don't have the feeling that the guys sense extra pressure or fear. We have remained calm. It will be okay," said Pasanen. "It's a big plus that we have this calm in Bremen. It's worthwhile to give the team some time. Unfortunately that is becoming more and more rare nowadays. Most people want to have success as quickly as possible."
Petri Pasanen arrived at SV Werder in summer 2004 from Ajax Amsterdam. The defensive specialist has played 137 Bundesliga matches in Green-White and has scored three goals.
