P - Poland: What thoughts were going through the head of Sebastian Boenisch as he earned his first cap for his homeland Poland against Poland on September 4 at Widzew Stadium in Lodz. The game ended 1-1 and Boenisch played the full 90 minutes, just as he did three days later in a 2-1 loss against Australia. Of course it was a pretty exciting week. Just as exciting was why he decided to play at the senior level for Poland and not for Germany, for whom he won the U21 European Championship in 2009. "Of course, the EURO 2012 and the chance of playing with a strong team at this tournament in my homeland played a role. I was also impressed with the vehemence with which the federation went after me," said Boenisch. But after the good news, the bad news followed. Just two weeks later, the left back suffered a knee injury which will keep him out a number of months. But Boenisch would not be Boenisch if he doesn't return from this low even stronger. He hopes to get back into the Werder starting line-up, back into the Polish national team and not just play at the European Championship but develop into a long-time starter for Poland.

Q - Quinarius: In ancient Rome, the Quinarius - a coin with the original value of five ("V") - served a major role in the popular currency. The Romans however would have faced a nearly impossible feat of producing enough of the silver currency to equal the record turnover of Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA. The Green-Whites generated 126.4 million euro in the past business year and a profit of 1.1 million euro. The 126.4 million euro eclipsed the mark of last year by 5.7 million euro. "The business remained loyal to their philosophy and operated without debt. Still our roster is full of quality and holds reserves," said Klaus Allofs.

R - Record scorer: Another 168 long, patient days were necessary before an 11-year hunt finally ended. A total of 168 days passed between Claudio Pizarro's 133rd and 134th Bundesliga goals in his career. On the final game day of the 2009-10 season, Pizarro re-directed a low cross by Clemens Fritz with the heel past Frank Rost to equal Giovane Elber's record as the top-scoring foreign player in the Bundesliga. Pizarro created his own t-shirt to bring attention to his up-coming Bundesliga record. "El #1 es Peruano" - "The Number One is Peruvian". The 32-year-old Pizarro finally became sole record holder on October 23 in Mönchengladbach as he hit home a cross from Wesley to make it 4-1. "Finally I did it," said the Green-White scorer afterwards.
