The Werder players have put behind them their first training session on Norderney. "The training pitch is in very good shape," said Werder coach Robin Dutt about the good conditions. There was a problem though as Philipp Bargfrede must undergo an arthroscopy in Augsburg.

Nils Petersen also praised the good conditions. "Everything is good - the hotel, the pitch, and the mood within the team. We are having fun at training with the small group, you can see that," said the striker.

Bargfrede is not part of the "small group" at the moment as he turned his knee Saturday afternoon and had to undergo further examinations on Monday in Augsburg. "Something happened with the knee. Philipp will undergo an arthroscopy on Wednesday," said Werder coach Robin Dutt, who hopes the defensive midfielder returns soon. "I hope he is fit again quickly. It would be very aggravating if he wasn't available for a long time. He gave me a very, very good impression in the first session," said the coach.

Bargfrede himself said: "It is totally aggravating for me. I was out in the winter after only a few days of training and now it happens to me again. The pictures don't look that bad but because I had an injury in the knee already you have to be careful. That's why the procedure is necessary. I hope that it turns out that it's nothing bad." Knee specialist Dr. Boenisch in Augsburg will do the procedure.
