Werder Bremen's five days on Norderney came to a close Friday afternoon as the team left the island after the final session in the morning. Werder head coach Robin Dutt said he was highly satisfied with the training camp. "The weather was superb and the conditions were very good. We worked hard and professionally. But the whole team was relaxed. We were able to get to know each other better. The team spirit was the winner of the first week," said the Werder coach.
Manager Thomas Eichin, who travelled to the North Sea island on Wednesday, was positive about the camp. "We had optimal conditions. I could get an impression of individual players who I had not seen on the pitch much before that due to injuries. In addition, I also had intensive talks with the new coaching staff. I sense that the mood is good and the whole team used the days very well and sensibly," said Eichin.
The only downer of the successful start of the preparations was the three injuries that Werder suffered. Philipp Bargfrede was hit shortly before the departure for the training camp and will miss three months with an exterior meniscus injury in his right knee. In addition, Özkan Yildirim and Cimo Röcker had to prematurely leave training on the island. While "Ötzi" will be out for about seven days with a slight right knee strain, Röcker has been dealing with muscular problems since Friday.
