The members of Sport Verein "Werder" von 1899 have elected a new supervisory board for the coming four years with the 265 voting members speaking out in favour of continuity. The only new member of the board is Werder honorary captain Marco Bode, who received the absolute majority along with current trio Willi Lemke, Hans Schulz and Dr. Werner Brinker. Club president Klaus-Dieter Fischer praised the handball department boss Gunnar Lübben-Rathjen, who after many years of working in the supervisory board decided against going for re-election.
Lemke was happy about the confirmation of the board's work. "We want to continue the path we are on and want to continue helping Werder to develop. The priority is to return to the black financially as soon as possible; have sporting success to return to the international stage; and maintain our flawless image," said Lemke. Schulz believes the addition of Bode is a good decision. "The sports competence is strengthened. I am convinced that the supervisory board also has the financial competence. You shouldn't forget that Marco Bode and I both add experience from the sports side," said Schulz.
