A clear majority at the member assembly of the League Association voted on Wednesday in favour of the implementation of goal line technology. Fifteen of the 18 Bundesliga clubs voted for the introduction of technical assistance in the form of the Hawk-Eye system.
Klaus Filbry, chairman of the board, was on hand to represent SV Werder Bremen. "From the beginning of the discussion we were in favour of the goal line technology and are happy about the result of the vote. The technological possibilities are without a doubt present and time-tested. The technology would defuse some problematic situations. It's a good decision for the fans, for the Bundesliga and also an overdue support for the work of the referees," said Filbry.
The Bundesliga is following the example of the Premier League, which has been using the Hawk-Eye since the beginning of the season.
