Werder Bremen player Naldo underwent surgery on his knee Sunday in his native Brazil. The surgery went well according to the doctor Carlos Bergamasch of Dr. Virvi Ramos hospital in Caxias do Sul. Naldo himself admitted he was relieved. "After an extensive examination on Saturday we decided for an immediate surgery. I would like to play for Werder again as soon as possible. The doctors here are very optimistic that everything will be okay," said Naldo.
Werder manager Klaus Allofs expects the 28-year-old defender back in Bremen in early February. "Naldo will initially remain in Brazil for treatment before he continues his rehab as soon as possible here in Bremen," said Allofs.
