While the other Werder players were busy cooling down after final training on Easter Monday, head coach Thomas Schaaf and defender Naldo had a chat. But the Brazilian already knew on his way to the coach what the result of the short talk would be.

Naldo was his typical joyful self as he gave the thumbs-up to Schaaf, indicating to the coach that his muscle strain was okay and he could play against Gladbach. "He trained well and didn't have any problems. He went all-out in shooting drills and did everything at 100 percent. He will be on hand tomorrow. Now we have to check if he will go directly into the starting line-up or sit on the bench," said Schaaf. Naldo is anxiously awaiting the decision. "Everything is okay. I don't have any more pain and could train well. I believe I could start but I have to wait and see what that coach decides," said Naldo.

But the coach is not only thinking about his Brazilian defender but also about his struggling offence. And that is where Werder need to improve to get better results. "When we have the ball we have to do more with it. We have to put the opponents under pressure. We have to be more effective and more determined in pushing forward, and more clear and certain in our actions. That was missing in Cologne. We often made the wrong decisions, passing the ball away when we could have gone forward with some tempo, or we ran into three or four defenders when we could have passed it beforehand," said Schaaf.

Schaaf nominated 18 points after Monday's final training for the difficult task against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Included in the squad is the Austrian international Zlatko Junuzovic, who was able to train after his bruised knee.

The following players will be on the squad for the game Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at Weser Stadium: Wiese, Mielitz - Boenisch, Affolter, Naldo, Fritz, Marin, Rosenberg, Schmitz, Silvestre, Ignjovski, Sokratis, Junuzovic, Pizarro, Trybull, Hartherz, Trinks, Füllkrug
