Despite nasty weather conditions, Werder players have continued their training work in Belek. Instead of a test match against the Uzbekistani top flight side Pakhtakor Tashkent, which was cancelled a day earlier, head coach Thomas Schaaf called for a training match at 3 p.m. which had two 30-minute halves.

Keeping on cue with the day, the match kicked off in a torrential downpour and ended with the Red team winning 2-1. The winning group included Mielitz, Fritz, Prödl, Sokratis, Schmitz, Ignjovski, Bargfrede, Trybull, Ekici, Rosenberg and Pizarro, the latter two of whom scored the Red goals. The equalizer was scored on a loose ball by Silvestre. But there was no time for congratulations following the training match as the team fled from the thunder and rain to the hotel. Cancelling the test match turned out to be the correct decision.

Away from the training match, Naldo trained again with the ball for the first time following two days of rehab training. Naldo went through shooting drills with keepers Christian Vander and Bernd Düker as well as striker Denni Avdic. "At the beginning it went really well, I didn't have any problems with shooting and jumping. But over the course of the session I felt the strain," said the Brazilian upon leaving the training grounds. Returnee Sebastian Boenisch and youngster Florian Trinks were also affected by the burden of the training camp as both had to sit out with slight knee problems. "Sebastian is feeling his operated knee a bit, so we left him out for now," said Schaaf. And regarding Trinks, he said: "That is nothing serious, but we wanted to be cautious and give him some rest."

Schaaf looked up into the skies and spoke his mind, saying: "Certainly that was not a real test match. But we made the best we could of the day. The team played very motivated and we can be satisfied with that," said Schaaf, who was surprised with the adverse weather during the Turkish training camp. "We have not experienced anything like that here in the past 10 years. You can't really be prepared for it."
