The time had come Monday night 24 October 2011 as Werder Bremen players once again took part in the traditional Freimarkt festival following a one-year break due to calendar issues. And the team helped provide a great mood. "The evening was very good, very funny. I think we did a good job singing as a team. The new acquisitions were integrated very well. It was important to have a nice evening," said Werder captain Clemens Fritz.

Baldo took over as "bandleader" along with stadium PA announcer Arnd Zeigler in the Bavarian tent and the Brazilian proved that he is not only a strong prop on the football pitch. He exhibited his skills as conductor and also wasn't a bad singer. The Green-Whites took the stage at 9 p.m. with even the new Werder players taking part in the "boys band" act and showing off their singing skills. Iggy, Sokratis, Mehmet Ekici and Co. sang the "Lifelong Green-White" hymn. And while Naldo thought Tim Wiese had distinguished himself, Fritz believes that the Brazilian defender is "the best singer in the team. He really did a very good job."

The team continued their celebrations after the stage appearance in a reserved box. "You do not experience this contact to the fans every day. The words to the hymn is pretty difficult, that's why I was a bit reserved," said Lukas Schmitz, who did not have anything similar to this from his time with Schalke. "It is nice that we as a team come together away from football in this form. I experience the Bavarian tent differently every year," said Tim Wiese.
