A new goalkeeper chapter for SV Werder Bremen started Wednesday evening at 7:01 p.m. After six years, the Green-Whites had a goalkeeper run onto the pitch with number 1 on his back without the name WIESE. The new number 1 belongs to MIELITZ as the 22-year-old Sebastian Mielitz played his first test match of a season in which he hopes to take the next step.

"Until now I only have the number 1 on my back, but now I want to do everything I can that I am also the number one keeper," said Mielitz. "I used to watch the goalkeepers with Werder and now I want to be there myself. I have no doubt that I will do it. But in the end, the coach decides."

The keeper is in the middle of possibly the most important pre-season of his young football career. "I have been able to wear the number one since the summer. That is something special for a goalkeeper. It means big responsibility. And I want to live up to it. I want to give the coach and the team a good feeling," said Mielitz.

In his first match with the 1 on his back against the East Friesland selection, Mielitz did not make any mistakes. He was helpless on the goal conceded as a teammate slipped in the defence. Mielitz, who would rather mull quietly over allowing the goal, isn't one to blame a teammate for the goal. "I am not the kind of guy who blames his front men. It doesn't help me at all if I cause them any more uncertainty. I would rather build them up, fire them up and give them positive response," said Mielitz. And one thing was clear to "Miele" after the final whistle. "The Tim Wiese chapter at Werder Bremen is over... I wouldn't have anything against the media writing that a new chapter has begun with Mielitz."
