Sebastian Mielitz wore the W on his chest for nine years. When the 25-year-old keeper returns to Bremen's Weser Stadium Saturday afternoon, he will be wearing the SC Freiburg jersey instead of the Werder diamond. With his new club, he will meet up with former teammates, old friends and of course Werder fans.
‘Miele' about ...
...his new home Freiburg:
Sebastian Mielitz: "It's really nice in Freiburg. I look out over the French Vosges from our apartment, you can reach Basle pretty quickly just like the Black Forest. The weather here is better than in Bremen. It's always comfortably warm and the people here are all nice, very accommodating and positive."
...his last visit to the Hanseatic city:
Sebastian Mielitz: "The last time I was in Bremen was for Philipp Bargfrede's wedding. It was nice to be back again and see some a couple of old colleagues like Philipp, Felix Kroos, but also for example Lukas Schmitz. I still have pretty tight contact to some Werder players. Besides the players, also to the physiotherapists and the kit manager Fritz Munder."
...his return to Weser Stadium:
Sebastian Mielitz: "It will certainly be a strange feeling but I am really looking forward to it - to the colleagues but also the Werder fans. I also have thought about a tactic. We keepers usually head out very early to warm up. This time I will wait until ‘Stolli' starts and then head out there." (laughs)
...his connection to Werder:
Sebastian Mielitz: "Of course I still check to see what happens in Bremen. Werder will never be like just another club. I was there too long, met too many people and have way too much to thank the club for. I keep up with what happens with SVW, but naturally no longer with the same intensity. Even though I play in Freiburg now, Werder is still a part of my life."
