Goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz has worn jersey number one for one season. And now it's clear that the 23-year-old will remain the number one keeper for SV Werder for next season. "I have committed myself. I will go into the season with Sebastian in goal," said Werder head coach Robin Dutt Tuesday during the training camp on Norderney.
Last season, Mielitz played all 34 matches between the Green-Whites posts in the Bundesliga. "Miele" is looking forward to increasing that number. "That is great and it's a confirmation of my everyday work. But it's also a responsibility that I want to live up to. I will continue to use that on Norderney and the remaining two training camps," said Mielitz.
After the departure of Tim Wiese, "Miele" was promoted to the Green-Whites' top keeper at the beginning of last season. And the 23-year-old will take advantage of the experiences from last season. "I will take everything a bit more relaxed. It was a different situation in my first season. I knew all of a sudden that I would play every game as the main keeper. Now I know what I can expect. I am strengthened by my first season. And I will play like that," said Mielitz.
Sebastian Mielitz has had nothing but praise for the new Werder coach. "He has taken every player on board. And I like that," said Mielitz. The Werder keeper is also very happy to stay along the Weser for a while. "I feel really good in Bremen. I was a Werder fan as a youngster. It was always my dream to play in goal for Werder Bremen. And I want to experience this dream for as long as possible," said the keeper.
