Examination instead of training - that was the motto for Marko Marin for Wednesday morning training 5 October 2011 after two days without practice.
"He does not have total freedom yet. So we had him checked today to get the confirmation that everything is okay," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf after the end of the first session. The examination was solely a precautionary measure. Marin had to sit out the Hannover match a couple days ago due to muscular problems.
Missing Marin cut the number of Werder players on the training grounds of Weser Stadium even lower. Due to the national team break this weekend and next week, the Green-Whites coaching staff is missing 10 players. In addition to players from the U23 team, the 9-on-9 game included Schaaf, Michael Kraft and Matthias Hönerbach. While assistant coach Hönerbach crossed from the right side and goalkeeper coach "Tiger" Kraft was in the midfield, head coach Schaaf played as second striker. "It doesn't work any more. That looked horrible. But it's still fun, even if I get so upset. I love being on the pitch," said Schaaf with a wink.
