Cedrick Makiadi has played in the Bundesliga for more than eight years. The Congolese with northern German roots has played 184 Bundesliga matches. The midfielder transferred before the season from Freiburg to SV Werder Bremen.

WERDER.DE: The first two questions to start. How fit are you? Will you be able to play 90 minutes on Saturday?
Cedrick Makiadi: "I think so. After my injury, I am on the way to getting physically better. I started back at team training last Friday so I have a couple of sessions behind me. I feel fit and ready. If the coach lets me play on Saturday, I will give my all."

WERDER.DE: Your former club Freiburg is coming to Weser Stadium. What kind of game is this for you?
Cedrick Makiadi: "It's definitely a special match for me. I had some very positive times in Freiburg. Especially the end was great for me. We qualified for the Europa League, which nobody could have imagined for us before that. I was part of a club that stayed in the Bundesliga five straight years. That had never happened before. That feels good."

WERDER.DE: The first quarter of the season hasn't gone optimally for Freiburg. What can we expect from Freiburg?
Cedrick Makiadi: "If you look at the Freiburg matches, you can see that they were very unlucky in a lot of them, keeping them from getting three points. We cannot make the mistake of going naive into the match and thinking ‘Freiburg are second to last. We can just beat them easily at Weser Stadium.' That would be fatal."

WERDER.DE: You have been in Bremen now for four months. What are the biggest differences between the two clubs?
Cedrick Makiadi: "Werder have a much longer history with a lot of successful European cup evenings. This hasn't been the case the last three years. Still, I can tell that the thinking has changed here. They are trying to stabilise the club so that some time we can play on the European stage again."

WERDER.DE: What is possible for Werder this season?
Cedrick Makiadi: "The goal is a spot in the safe midfield. And that should be possible. Werder Bremen recently played against the relegation. Nobody should forget that. If we reach our goal this season then we can gladly talk about Europe again next year."
