First a bus, then an airplane and perhaps still a train trip still to come. Cedrick Makiadi's trip back to Bremen could hardly be more complicated. And after the Congolese international played for his national team in the qualification for the 2015 Cup of Nations, he will not be available for SV Werder in the match on Friday at Bayer Leverkusen.
"He takes the bus to Zambia and then further to Nairobi. After a short break he will travel to Brussels from where he will look for a way back," said head coach Robin Dutt with a grin about Makiadi's travel route. "He'll get back to Bremen some time on Friday and will be happy just to go to bed. It doesn't make any sense to put him on the squad."
The situation was much calmer for Izet Hajrovic. The Bosnian international, who also returned to Bremen later than expected, was able to take part in the final training Thursday afternoon. That means Hajrovic will be available for the match against Bayer Leverkusen.
