Marko Marin was not included in the German national team squad for its friendly against France on Wednesday 19 February 2012 at Weser Stadium. But the German national team coach Joachim Löw made clear at Monday's official press conference that 22-year-old is still an option for the up-coming European Championship this summer.
"We still have him on our radar. He has had a tough period recently but was really good two matches ago. I would not write him off," said Löw. "His strength is in one-on-one situations and he can decide games alone like that. If we have the feeling that he can consistently play like that, then the chance is there."
Marin himself was happy to hear the statement. "Of course it's nice to hear that from the national team coach and have the feeling that he knows my strengths," said the midfielder, who also didn't want to overvalue Löw statement. "I am not really thinking about the national team at all at the moment but only concentrating on Werder and that we reach our goals with the team. If there is a chance for the national team through my performances in the club then it's that much better."
