Werder Bremen's supervisory board will continue its work in the same formation as the constituent assembly of Werder's highest board confirmed Willi Lemke unanimously as board chairman just like the member assembly election two weeks ago. Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald was also confirmed unanimously in his position as deputy supervisory board chairman.
"It's nice that we once again received the full trust from our colleagues. We will continue our confident, constructive work within the supervisory board but also with the board of directors of SV Werder Bremen," said Lemke afterwards. "I congratulate Willi Lemke that he retained the trust. That is a strong signal that the supervisory board wants to continue its trustworthy collaboration and respects him very much as representative and mouthpiece for the results attained together," said Dr. Hess-Grunewald.
The Lemke-Dr. Hess-Grunewald duo will continue the leadership work they have shown in the supervisory board since February 2005. Willi Lemke and Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald have been in the supervisory board since 1999 and are original members of the newly-formed body. Lemke, who was the Green-Whites' manager from 1981 to 1999, later served as the deputy to the first supervisory board chairman Dr. Franz-Böhmert and then took over the chairmanship after Dr. Franz-Böhmert died and was confirmed. Dr. Hess-Grunewald then took over as deputy.
