Werder Bremen's final match of the 2010 calendar year is around the corner with promoted side Kaiserslautern coming to Weser Stadium on Saturday, 18 December 2010. Just a look at the Bundesliga table is enough to tell that the encounter will be anything but easy. Both teams have collected five victories this season and are in the middle of the league with Kaiserslautern just one point behind Werder.
"With a victory in the final game of the first half we can send an important signal for the second half," said Werder manager Klaus Allofs. "They have played a good half of the season thus far and played some strong matches," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf at the press conference before the game about Kaiserslautern. "They have been dominated the odd time but what's clear is that they always prove themselves at home and have fought through." That leaves the Werder boss with a clear concept: "This will certainly be a game in which we have to create an advantage by scoring a goal. Even if that doesn't work right away, we have to remain patient and continue to push forward and win the game in the end."
