After staving off relegation on Saturday, there was more positive news for SV Werder Monday afternoon as Felix Kroos extended his contract for two more years and will remain loyal to the Green-Whites until 30 June 2015.
"I am very happy about extending the contract. I have thought a lot about my future and I am fully certain about this decision," said Kroos. "For me, the main thing was my perspective and the last few weeks have shown me that I can be an important part of a Bundesliga team. Now it's up to me to use that perspective," said the 22-year-old about the agreement.
Manager Thomas Eichin was satisfied with the contract extension with the midfielder. "Felix is a good youngster who fully identifies with Werder Bremen and the work here. After his performances in recent weeks, we wanted to continue our work beyond this season and are happy that we can keep him for another two years," said Eichin.
Kroos signed with Werder in 2010 and became a regular in the Bundesliga team at the end of this season. All told, Kroos has appeared in 10 Bundesliga matches and one Champions League contest. He also has played 46 times for Werder's U23 team in Liga 3 (10 goals) and 21 times in the Regionalliga (1 goal).
