Martin Kobylanski has been sent on loan for a year to Union Berlin with immediate effect. A buy-out option was also agreed upon by SV Werder Bremen, the offensive player and the second division team. Kobylanski signed the new deal Thursday morning.
Manager Thomas Eichin sees the transfer as an important step in the development of the 20-year-old. "We see in Martin Kobylanski a player who will play an important role in the future for Werder. With this move, we want to give him the chance to get regular playing time with an ambitious second division team and thereby take the next step. We are convinced that he will have the optimal conditions with Union Berlin," said Eichin.
Kobylanski is looking forward to the chance. "It's important for my development that I regularly play now. I would like to take this opportunity with Union. I was born in Berlin and grew up in the region. So I know how much the club means and I should be okay with that pretty quickly," said Kobylanski.
Kobylanski transferred in the summer of 2012 from Energie Cottbus to SV Werder. The Polish youth international played 40 matches for Werder's U23 team in the Regionalliga Nord, scoring 21 goals to go with six assists. In addition, he celebrated his Bundesliga debut last season in the away match against Hamburg. All told, he appeared in eight Bundesliga matches during the 2013-14 season.
