The executive committee of SV Werder Bremen agreed unanimously at their meeting Wednesday night 29 June 2011 in favour of the expulsion from the club of NPD official Jens Pühse. The reasons for his expulsion were explained by Werder Bremen at the end of May.
Pühse at the same time was invited by registered letter to a statutory hearing. Since the functionary from the ring-wing NPD party did not respond in writing or show up at the hearing yesterday, the expulsion followed unanimously. The reasoning was the fully incompatibility of the election and party program goals of Pühse's NPD party opposite the values of tolerance and integration laid out in the SV Werder bylaws.
Statutorily, Werder Bremen advances the function of sport as the binding element between nationalities, cultures, religions and social classes. It offers children, youngsters and adults a sporting home regardless of descent, skin colour, origin, beliefs and social standing as well as sexual identity. These values are carried out by the club especially through its excellent social efforts.
